May 25, 2023 and May 30, 2023 12:00PM to 2:30PM EST
DOE’s IEDO Cross-Sector Technologies (CST) Subprogram conducted a virtual meeting consisting of the following two sessions:
- Session #1: Low-Carbon Process Heating on Thursday May 25, 2023
- Session #2: Next-Generation Cross-Sector Technologies on Tuesday May 30, 2023
The meeting brought together technical personnel from various industries, equipment manufacturers, academia, national labs, research institutes, trade associations, and consulting groups to evaluate and identify key challenges and RD&D opportunities for transformative decarbonization innovations through prioritization of emerging component and equipment technologies.
Session #1 of the CST virtual meeting began with an introduction to the Cross-Sector Technologies Subprogram overview presented by Program Manager Isaac Chan, followed by an introduction to Low-Carbon Process Heating presented by Technology Manager Keith Jamison. The session then transitioned to a panelist session and facilitated Q&A with select industry stakeholders followed by three separate, simultaneous breakout sessions covering the following areas: (1) Electrotechnologies, (2) Low-carbon Fuels and Energy Sources, and (3) Low-thermal Budget Pathways. The session concluded with a report out on the three breakout group findings and a facilitated discussion on associated potential near- and long-term metrics and goals.
Session #2 of the CST virtual meeting began with an introduction to the Cross-Sector Technologies Subprogram overview followed by an introduction to Next-Generation Technologies, both of which were presented by Technology Manager Emmeline Kao. The session then transitioned to a panelist session and facilitated Q&A with select industry stakeholders followed by three separate, simultaneous breakout sessions covering the following areas: (1) End User and Industry Needs, (2) Plant Management and Efficiency, and (3) Auxiliary Equipment. The session concluded with a report out on the three breakout group findings and a facilitated discussion on associated potential near- and long-term metrics and goals.
The publications for this workshop include the pre-meeting read, the formal invitation sent to select CST stakeholders, the detailed workshop agenda for both meeting sessions. In addition, the briefing slides, which include the formal presentations given and the breakout session report outs, are also provided for both meeting sessions.
