On May 24, 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office opened the Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship (CEIF) application period for recent graduates and early career energy professionals. CEIF is a unique workforce development program that matches energy professionals to key energy organizations to support efforts to advance clean energy solutions. This year, the Fellowship is offering 37 placement opportunities through Host Institutions supporting the transition to clean electricity while also increasing access to clean energy career opportunities across the United States. The Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship recruits Fellows from diverse backgrounds to spend up to two years supporting eligible Host Institutions, which include electric public utility commissions, municipal and cooperative utilities, Puerto Rican essential energy organizations, and Tribal utilities, Inter-Tribal Councils, and other Tribal organizations. Innovator Fellows receive a stipend and a professional development allowance to support Host Institution projects that are identified as critical to advancing decarbonization or enhancing grid resilience while ensuring energy affordability and grid reliability during the clean energy transition.

Fellowship candidates must apply to the program by June 12, 2023, at 4 PM ET. Visit the program website for additional information: Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship | Department of Energy

The Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship is sponsored by DOE through the Grid Deployment Office and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
