On January 25, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency order no. 202-26-03, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to ISO New England Inc. (ISO-NE). The order was issued subsequent to ISO-NE’s application. The order authorizes ISO-NE’s generating units located within the ISO-NE region to operate up to their maximum generation output levels, notwithstanding air quality or other permit limitations arising under federal, state, or local law or regulation, or other applicable source of law. This order is in effect beginning on January 25, 2026, and shall expire at 11:59 p.m. EST on January 31, 2026.
