December 20, 2024Earlier this month, DOE awarded more than $2 million to 19 teams at the Community Energy Innovation Prize (CEIP) Summit in Chicago for successfully completing the challenge to support innovation, entrepreneurship, capacity building, and economic development in communities historically underrepresented in renewable energy funding. The AMMTO-supported Manufacturing Ecosystem Track supports projects that advance clean energy manufacturing innovation ecosystems in historically underserved communities. Successful applicants will bring together public, private, and community stakeholders to address key barriers to advancing manufacturing innovation, business models, and market development.
AMMTO’s winners in the Manufacturing Ecosystem Track include:
- Eighth Generation Consulting, Pawhuska, OK: Awarded $260,000 to cultivate a recycling ecosystem that empowers indigenous communities with economic opportunities and job skills for a sustainable future.
- The PDX Clean Industry Network, Portland, OR: Awarded $110,000 to provide middle wage jobs to underserved communities, reduce waste and emissions, improve business sustainability, support organizational resilience, and foster innovation in Oregon’s largest economic corridor.
- CEIP Warren, Warren, OH: Awarded $110,000 to combine manufacturing skills education with energy entrepreneurship in a redesigned community.
- Clean Tech Innovation Network, Chicago, IL: Awarded $60,000 to reduce barriers for startups and subject matter experts to create new energy products and jobs, especially those led by people of color and women, to drive economic growth through domestic manufacturing.
