The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to University of Minnesota (UMN) to develop and test novel insulation and residential building design approaches. Specifically, the Solid Panel Structural (SPS) building system and the “Perfect Wall” thermal and moisture management approach would be optimized with the goal of making large-scale market adoption viable. Structural testing would be performed in order to prepare the techniques for universal code acceptance. The project would be completed over two Budget Periods (BPs), with a Go/No-Go Decision Point in between each BP.
