The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Stone Mountain Technologies, Inc. (SMTI) to develop methods and materials to reduce the weight and cost of thermally driven absorption heat pumps for space and water heating applications. To achieve this goal, SMTI and its project partners would assess the viability of using aluminum tubing in the evaporator of an ammonia-water absorption heat pump appliance. The project would be completed over two Budget Periods (BPs), with a Go/No-Go Decision Point in between each BP.
