On December 16, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency order 202-25-11, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to TransAlta. The order directs TransAlta to ensure Unit 2 of the Centralia Generating Station in Centralia, Washington remains available for operation. This order is in effect beginning on December 16, 2025, and continues until March 16, 2026.
