On March 23, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency DOE Order No. 202-26-19, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO). The order directs NIPSCO and MISO to take all measures necessary to ensure that Units 17 and 18 at the Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield, Ind. are available to operate. This order is in effect beginning on March 24, 2026, through June 21, 2026.
