The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the Fraunhofer USA Center for Energy Innovation (Fraunhofer CEI) to design, fabricate, and test the first ceramic Membrane Distillation (MD) membranes that perform in chemical and/or thermal environments that are too extreme for polymeric MD membranes. Project work would occur at Fraunhofer CEI in Connecticut and Fraunhofer research and development facilities in Germany.
