The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will participate in the 44th annual CERAWeek by S&P Global, from March 23–27, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Assistant Secretary Kyle Haustveit and Senior Advisor Toby Deen will represent DOE’s Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office.

CERAWeek brings together global leaders to explore the future of energy. This year's theme, “Convergence and Competition: Energy, Technology and Geopolitics,” will guide discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing the rapidly evolving energy landscape. The event serves as a critical platform for collaboration between government, industry, and technology leaders to advance a secure and reliable energy future.

At the conference, Assistant Secretary Haustveit will speak on the “Unlocking Geothermal at Scale” panel to discuss how geothermal technology advancements can continue to meet rising electricity demand while supporting economic growth and national security. With the convergence of technology, growing demand, and strong policy support, geothermal is positioned to become a scalable contributor to U.S. power generation by 2030 and beyond.

“CERAWeek is where the world’s energy leaders come together to chart the path forward. With the Energy Department’s recent $171.5 million investmentin next-generation geothermal and growing private-sector momentum, this is a crucial moment to advance the technologies that will unlock America’s vast geothermal resources and strengthen our energy dominance,” said Assistant Secretary Haustveit.

In addition to the panel discussion, Assistant Secretary Haustveit and Senior Advisor Deen will hold a series of high-level meetings and engagements throughout the week. This includes conversations with industry partners on topics spanning natural gas development, liquefied natural gas trade, infrastructure expansion, and next-generation power technologies.

By engaging with industry leaders and international partners at the world’s largest energy forum, DOE is strengthening America’s position as a global energy leader while accelerating emerging technologies that support President Trump’s Energy Dominance agenda.
