On October 16, 2019, DOE issued Order No. 4446 to Venture Global Plaquemines LNG, LLC (Plaquemines LNG) under section 3(a) of the Natural Gas Act. This Order authorizes Plaquemines LNG to export U.S.-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to any country with which the United States has not entered into a free trade agreement (FTA) requiring national treatment for trade in natural gas, and with which trade is not prohibited by U.S. law or policy (non-FTA countries). A Record of Decision (ROD) was also issued in this Order.
Plaquemines LNG is authorized to export the LNG in a volume equivalent to 1,240 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per year of natural gas (3.40 Bcf per day) from the proposed Plaquemines LNG Project, to be located in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.
