Under the name Techsan Wind Team, our university has competed in the U.S. Department of Energy's Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC) every year since 2017. We are excited for the chance to compete again in 2024—Texas Tech University's second year partnering with South Plains College.

For as long as our school's team has been active, we have partnered with organizations to promote the CWC and renewable energy. In the past, these partnerships have included articles in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal—the largest newspaper in Lubbock—and in The Daily Toreador—Texas Tech University's student-led newspaper, as well as guest spots on Texas Tech's student-led radio station. We have reached out to these same organizations again in 2024. We have also partnered with Lubbock Youth Outreach, a mentorship program for children in temporary foster care, to raise awareness of wind energy and the career opportunities it offers.
