On November 18, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued emergency order 202-25-9, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). The emergency order directs MISO, in coordination with Consumers Energy, to ensure that the J.H. Campbell Power Plant in West Olive, Michigan remains available for operation. Additionally, MISO is directed to take every step to minimize cost to the American people. This order is in effect beginning on November 19, 2025, and continues until February 17, 2026.
