On May 18, 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) issued DOE Order No. 202-26-22, pursuant to section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act, to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), in coordination with Consumers Energy. The order directs MISO to ensure that the J.H. Campbell coal-fired power plant in West Olive, Michigan remains available to operate and to employ economic dispatch to minimize costs for the American people. This order is in effect beginning on May 19, 2026 and continues until August 16, 2026.
