March 10, 2026The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will participate in the inaugural Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum, co-hosted by President Trump’s National Energy Dominance Council in partnership with Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, on March 14–15, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. Assistant Secretary for the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) Kyle Haustveit and Senior Advisor Toby Deen will represent DOE.
The Ministerial and Business Forum will convene energy ministers, senior government officials, and private-sector leaders from more than a dozen countries to strengthen U.S.–Indo-Pacific energy partnerships and expand trade and investment across the region.
At the Ministerial, Assistant Secretary Haustveit will moderate a hydrocarbons panel to examine how coal, oil, and natural gas can continue to meet rising energy demand across the Indo-Pacific while supporting economic growth and national security. Panelists will also discuss how governments, industry, and international partners can responsibly expand supply and improve energy resilience.
“The Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum comes at a pivotal moment. As home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies, the region is central to global energy demand growth,” said Assistant Secretary Haustveit. “This event provides a critical opportunity to deepen collaboration with trusted partners and advance secure, reliable, and resilient energy systems.”
By aligning policy leadership with private-sector innovation and investment, DOE is advancing next-generation energy technologies while reinforcing America’s role as a dependable global energy supplier and a trusted partner to Indo-Pacific allies.
