The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) today announced the opening of the Spring 2025 round of the Energy I-Corps (EIC) program. This opportunity invites DOE National Laboratories, plants, and sites to apply to develop commercialization trainings, to participate in intensive commercialization training, or to receive funding to support the commercialization of a high-potential DOE clean energy technology.
Energy I-Corps, launched in 2015, is a specialized training program to accelerate the commercialization of DOE research. The program provides DOE Lab, plant, and site researchers with commercialization skills through a structured curriculum and stakeholder engagement. Energy I-Corps has trained more than 450 National Lab researchers transition technologies from the lab to the marketplace by providing them essential commercialization skills. These efforts have led to the attraction of over $177 million in post-program funding and the execution of 78 licenses for energy technologies. Beyond the direct impact on participants, the program helps foster a culture of market awareness that strengthens the overall viability of DOE research.
For Spring 2025, OTT will offer three topics, expecting to award up to $500K across topics 1 and 3, depending on FY25 appropriations. Additional funding may be provided depending on the alignment of proposals with other DOE program office objectives.
