On October 25, 2018, DOE offered a free, public tour of LM’s Bluewater, New Mexico, Disposal Site. Bluewater was a uranium-ore processing site addressed by Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA). It is located in Cibola County, approximately 9 miles northwest of Grants, New Mexico, and covers 3,300 acres.

The tour was important to everyone who visited the site. We cannot succeed in our mission to protect human health and the environment without engaging and listening to our stakeholders. Understanding their concerns enables us to perform our long-term stewardship duties at the Bluewater site more effectively. The tour included local community members as well as staff from Senator Tom Udall’s office and the New Mexico Environment Department. We are grateful to all who were able to join us. Their participation made the tour a success.
