Cyber security breaches are on the rise in the United States.

With the increasing number of data breaches, companies and governments have to respond by protecting their data as much as possible.

The Identity Theft Resource Center reported that data breaches in 2017 hit an all-time record high of 791, a 29 percent jump from the previous year.

LM takes data breaches seriously. Which is why LM observed National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, to ensure its online data stay protected.

The Department of Homeland Security created the awareness month to connect governments, citizens, and business with the best cyber security practices.

The 2018 theme is “STOP. THINK. CONNECT.” Some of the capstone concepts are:

  • Keep a clean machine
  • Protect your personal information
  • Connect with care
  • Be a good online citizen
  • Own your online presence
  • Lock down your login

According to Stay Safe Online, “As the lines between our work and daily lives become increasingly blurred, it becomes more important than ever to be certain that smart cyber security carries over between the two.”

LM provides regular trainings to its federal and contractor staff employees to help them stay vigilant online and encourages them to report any suspicious activity to the cyber security team.
