The Department of Energy conducted an environmental assessment that analyzed the potential environmental impacts associated with the proposed construction and operation of a 30 megawatt wind power facility on approximately 578 acres in the Kahuku area on the northeastern portion of the Island of O'ahu, within the State of Hawaii.
The Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration has completed the Environmental Assessment for the Receipt and Storage of Gap Material - Plutonium in support of the Global Threat Reduction Initiative. The environmental assessment evaluates the potential environmental impacts of transporting up to 100 kilograms of plutonium from foreign countries to the Savannah River Site for storage pending final disposition.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) proposes to construct and operate a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to meet existing and future electric power requirements in northwestern North Dakota, and to interconnect this new transmission line to the Western Area Power Administration’s (Western) transmission system. The EA identified no potentially significant impacts to environmental resources resulting from either Western's Federal action or Basin Electric's Proposed Project.
