The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) has completed an environmental assessment (DOE/EA-2302) and reached a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for Northwest Arctic Borough (NAB) High Penetration Solar and Battery Energy Project, Ambler, Alaska.
DOE is proposing to authorize the expenditure of federal funding by NAB to construct and operate solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems for the village of Ambler in Alaska. Under the Proposed Action, NAB would clear approximately eight acres of land and site preparation for the photovoltaic (PV) racking foundation and an equipment pad. The battery energy storage system (BESS) building would house solar batteries.
