Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant for: The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission is focused on Energy Efficient Lighting. The Town of Shelburne is proposing to work with Green Mountain Power Company to replace 181 existing mercury vapor and sodium vapor municipal lights with light-emitting diode (LED) lights. Currently, the 181 lights that will be replaced use an estimated 107,427 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. The replacement LED heads will use an estimated 29,565 kWh of electricity providing a decrease of 77,862 kWh of electricity per year. The reduction in maintenance will result in less vehicle trips by Green Mountain Power, an estimated savings of 770 maintenance trips over the 6 year life cycle of the LED bulbs.
