The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is looking for nominations for elected tribal government officials (or designated tribal government employees with authority to act on behalf of the elected officials) to serve as members of the Indian Country Energy and Infrastructure Working Group (ICEIWG).

ICEIWG is an informal working group that represents Tribes in the 48 contiguous states and Alaska who have expertise in energy development and infrastructure. ICEIWG provides advice and recommendations to the director of the DOE Office of Indian Energy with respect to the strategic planning and implementation of the DOE Office of Indian Energy’s resources, business, and energy infrastructure development policies and programs.

The deadline for nominations has been extended to Aug. 24, 2015.

To be considered, please submit a nomination letter that addresses the following points:

  • What are your Tribe’s energy interests and projects or potential projects?
  • How would being a member of ICEIWG benefit your Tribe?
  • How would DOE and other Tribes benefit from your participation in the working group?

In your nomination, please also include both the name of the primary member and an alternate contact who can serve in lieu of the primary member's absence. ICEIWG members serve without special compensation; however, they are reimbursed by DOE for allowed travel expenses. Members need to be willing to commit to attending quarterly in-person meetings. Confirmations of eligibility and selections are targeted for Sept. 4, 2015, with notice provided soon thereafter to the prospective working group members.

Nominations must be submitted in writing via email to DOE Office of Indian Energy Program Manager Sarai Geary at tribalenergy@ncsl.org.
