DOE ordered Grandlite International Corporation to pay a $940,900 civil penalty after finding Grandlite manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. mutiple units of certain metal halide lamp fixture models that do not comply with the energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Grandlite.
In addition, on July 31, 2015, DOE issued a Notice amending the June 11, 2015, Notice of Noncompliance Determination after receiving information from Grandlite that Grandlite does not import or otherwise manufacture five of the subject models in that NND. However, the June 11, 2015, NND remained in effect for the other 223 metal halide lamp fixture models.
DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Grandlite on June 11, 2015, finding that certain Grandlite models do not comport with the energy conservation standards. DOE determined the products were noncompliant based on information provided by the company. Grandlite notified each person (or company) to whom Grandlite distributed the noncompliant products that the products do not meet Federal standards. In addition, Grandlite provided to DOE documents and records showing the number of units Grandlite distributed and to whom.
