DOE ordered Dongbu Daewoo Electronics Corporation to pay a $12,000 civil penalty after finding Dongbu Daewoo Electronics Corporation had failed to certify that certain refrigerator-freezers comply with the applicable energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Daewoo.

DOE alleged in a January 8, 2015 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that Dongbu Daewoo Electronics Corporation had failed to certify certain refrigerator-freezers as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards.DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards. The civil penalty notice advised the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
