SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Crews continue to make progress toward an EM 2021 priority to complete demolition of all DOE-owned buildings at the former Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC) site in Ventura County, California. Here, workers remove panels from one of the remaining buildings in preparation for final demolition. After that teardown, only three of the DOE-owned buildings will remain to be taken down. Building 4057, pictured, was constructed in 1963 to support liquid metals testing and chemical property tests. After closure, it was used as ETEC’s records library for field equipment storage. Once the remaining three buildings are demolished, DOE intends to continue working with the State of California on final cleanup. This work includes removing remaining building foundations, and cleanup of groundwater and soils.
