EDF Project: DTE Gas
PROJECT STATEMENT
DTE Gas will rebuild a compressor station and modernize hundreds of miles of distribution mains & service lines to strengthen Michigan's natural gas infrastructure.
PROJECT SUMMARY
In June 2026, EDF closed a $1.6 billion loan to DTE Gas Company (DTE) to strengthen the reliability, safety, capacity, and security of Michigan’s natural gas infrastructure and save Americans money on their energy costs. The loan to DTE will be used to help fund the modernization and strengthening of approximately 800 miles of distribution mains and service lines, as well as rebuilding an existing compressor station that enables DTE to store natural gas in the summer when demand is low, reducing the price customers pay in the winter.
PROJECT IMPACT
Due to the reduced cost of debt associated with EDF financing, the EDF loan will enable DTE to make these critical investments while keeping energy bills as low as possible.
ECONOMIC IMPACT
A total of approximately $700 million in cost savings will be passed along to 1.4 million DTE Gas customers in Michigan through the 30-year tenure of the loan. In addition, investments supported by this financing are expected to sustain more than 750 jobs over the life of the loan.
