The Georgia-Alabama-South Carolina system of projects consists of ten individual projects that were developed for the flood control, navigation, hydroelectric power, fish and wildlife, recreation, water supply, pollution abatement, erosion control and other related uses.  They are Buford, J. Strom Thurmond, Hartwell, Walter F. George, Millers Ferry, Robert F. Henry, Allatoona, Carters, Richard B. Russell and West Point. The combined power installations of these projects amount to 2,230,000 kilowatts of nameplate capacity.  The present capacity produces an average of 3.4 billion kilowatt-hours of energy annually, excluding the energy generated from the pump-storage operations at Carters and Richard B. Russell Projects.
