2023 Small Business Forum & Expo: Guidelines for Award Recipients

On behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), we want to once again congratulate you on being a recipient of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Annual Small Business Award!

In order to fully celebrate you and your award at the event, please submit the following no later than Friday, May 5, 2023:

  1. A brief description (not to exceed 500 words) for the reason you won the award as well as a brief bio or company description. In general, this description should be tailored for the FY 2022 work performed and justification for the award
  2. Company logo, organizational seal and photo of awardee (high resolution, vector file preferred)
  3. Name (as you want it to be read and appear), title, and company of affiliation
  4. Name(s), title(s), and company of affiliation of person(s) who will be accepting the award (not to exceed three (3) people)
  5. Email addresses and mobile phone numbers of all award recipients
  6. ***For DOE Awardees only***: Provide your supervisor's name, title, mailing address, and email address. A letter of acknowledgement will be sent by OSDBU director

Email your submissions to Anita Anderson at anita.anderson@hq.doe.gov. All descriptions, logos and photos submissions will be reviewed and approved by OSDBU.


Event Registration:

The primary person accepting the award onsite will receive a complimentary conference registration. Please visit the Registration page and register as an Attendee. Use the promo code AWARD23 during checkout for your complimentary registration. Note: this promo code is for the use of the primary award recipient only. If additional people are attending, they are required to pay the conference registration fee.


Event Travel:

Award recipients are responsible for their own hotel reservations. Please visit the Hotel & Travel page for reservations at the New Orleans Marriott. The per diem rate is $136.00 until June 18, 2023, at 5:00 pm (EST).


Awards Ceremony:

The FY 2022 Annual Small Business Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 11, 10:15 – 11:45 AM (CST). The location of the ceremony will be the Mardi Gras Ballroom in the New Orleans Marriott.

  • Please arrive at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the ceremony
  • There will be seats reserved for the award recipients in the first two rows. Please be seated in the awardees reserved area. Seating in an undesignated area, will cause a delay in the awards program.
  • Prior to going on the stage, please be sure to take your lanyard off.
  • There will be OSDBU team members guiding you on and off the stage.
  • Once on stage, you will accept the award, and stand with OSDBU's Director for a photo.
  • Unfortunately, award recipients will not allowed to make remarks from the podium.
  • At the end of the awards ceremony, please do not leave. We will be taking group photos of all the awardees with OSDBU's Director.
  • In case of an unforeseen circumstance on the day of the event, should you be unable to participate in the awards ceremony, please contact Anita ASAP (Phone/Text: 202-740-5926 or Email: anita.anderson@hq.doe.gov). If you are able, please designate an alternate for you. Please provide his/her name, title and name of organization or company of affiliation.

The Award:

Each awardee will receive an email to review and approve the etching:

  • Name of awardee
  • Job title
  • Company of affiliation or name of DOE organization

If an awardee is unable to attend the awards ceremony, OSDBU will coordinate shipping or pick-up options with the awardee.

OSDBU’s office nor the event planner are responsible for storing, and/or shipping of any awards.


Media and/or Press Releases:

OSDBU will not release the names of the awardees until the kickoff of the conference. We ask that all our awardees also refrain from mass emails and social media announcements until the start of the event (July 11, 2023). After the awards ceremony, should you wish to issue a media and/or press release, please provide a copy to Anita (anita.anderson@hq.doe.gov).
