In a final rule published on October 6, 2023, DOE adopted energy conservation standards for commercial water heating equipment. In an exercise of its enforcement discretion, DOE will delay enforcement activity with respect to the thermal efficiency standards for gas-fired storage water heaters and storage-type instantaneous water heaters and gas-fired instantaneous water heaters and hot water supply boilers manufactured on or after October 6, 2026, but before October 6, 2027.
