Led by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as the lead federal agency, with the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) serving as the Project sponsor and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) as a cooperating agency, a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for the BNSF, Bridgeport Project (DOE/EA-2288). This EA assesses the potential environmental impacts of NDOT's proposal to construct a viaduct where U.S. Highway 26 (US-26) / Nebraska Highway 92 (N-92) crosses the BNSF Railway’s (BNSF) railroad tracks in Bridgeport, Morrill County, Nebraska. The proposed viaduct would replace the existing at-grade crossing west of the intersection of Recreation Road and 5th Street, enhancing safety and improving transportation efficiency.
Based on the analysis contained in the EA, WAPA determined that the preparation of an environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
