The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is relying upon the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Final SEIS (filed in 2009) and is republishing it as DOE Final EIS for Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center Restart Project in Londonderry Township (DOE/EIS-0574). This EIS assesses the potential environmental impacts of DOE Loan Programs Office's (LPO) decision to issue a loan guarantee to Constellation Energy Generation (CEG) to resume power operations at the Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center (CCEC) formerly known as Three Mile Island, Unit 1, an 871-MW electric nuclear fueled power station in Londonderry Township, Pennsylvania. The subject of the loan being sought from the DOE is for the general refurbishment, maintenance, and restart activities associated with the existing NRC license to allow power generation until 2034.
