The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) is proposing to issue a loan guarantee to Constellation Energy Generation (CEG) to restart power operations at the Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center (CCEC), formerly known as Three Mile Island, Unit 1, an 871-MW electric nuclear fueled power station in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The subject of the loan being sought from the DOE is for the general refurbishment, maintenance, and restart activities associated with the existing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license (DPR-50) to allow power generation until 2034.
