The best part of the job is being able to see how all the different pieces of the nuclear security enterprise fit together.

Caleb Yip
NGFP Fellow

Caleb's first step into the field of nuclear security was his internship with the State Department's Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation. During his time there, Iran was ramping up its enrichment activities as the United States was withdrawing from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. This experience sparked a greater interest in nuclear security for Caleb.

Early on in his fellowship, he took on the task of updating some graphics that showed the current and future U.S. nuclear deterrent, as well as the country's ongoing modernization programs. That graphic, along with the program’s command brief that he helped update, was used by Dr. Marv Adams to give a Defense Programs overview at the 2023 Nuclear Deterrence Summit.
