2024 Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Simulation Workshop

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) hosted the 2024 Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Simulation workshop on August 12-13. The event brought together about 130 attendees to learn about recent advances in EMT technologies, key challenges to overcome, and best practices for EMT adoption. In-depth discussions covered topics, such as EMT modeling performance for inverter-based resources (IBR), simulation algorithms and testbeds, and IBR planning/interconnection analysis and studies. Participants represented original equipment manufacturers, software companies, consulting companies, IBR plant developers, utilities, system operators, national laboratories, reliability organizations, and government. The event was jointly organized by the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), North American Electric Reliability Corporation, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
