We at GSOE Wind are a student-run wind energy program based out of a hand-built workshop in the aerodynamics laboratory of The Grove School of Engineering (GSOE) at The City College of New York. The 2024 U.S. Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC) marks our first time participating in the CWC.

By participating in the competition, we aim to expose students across a variety of disciplines, interests, and undergraduate majors to the possibilities of working in wind energy and other renewable energy industries. In addition to gaining a wealth of knowledge in the sustainable energy sector, we also hope to share our findings with our campus and the local community. Given New York City's close proximity to offshore wind energy development, we hope to encourage and prepare students to pursue careers in this exciting field.

Our outreach objectives include elevating awareness of wind energy, enhancing youth education regarding opportunities in the wind energy industry, inspiring new student recruits for future CWC years, showcasing competition skills, fostering sustained community interest in wind energy, and creating a meaningful impact on the industry.
