DOE Records Disposition Schedules

Machine-implementable Schedules

The DOE RDS and NARA GRS in comma separated values (CSV) format helps DOE elements automate records disposition.  This format translates disposition instructions into data.  Computer applications can use this data to determine disposition dates for individual records.  The CSV format is software independent, but DOE elements may need to modify data fields as required for their individual applications.

The CSV file includes all approved DOE RDS items together with NARA GRS items modified for DOE use, but not all items are machine-implementable.  Some items are filing instructions or cannot be translated in the CSV file for other reasons.  These items are marked accordingly.  The master file is a standard Excel spreadsheet formatted for easy reference.

Prior Transmittals

Prior transmittals (1-7) will be uploaded here as those legacy files are remediated for section 508 compliance.  In the meantime, you may access PDFs of each transmittal on Powerpedia at: https://powerpedia.energy.gov/wiki/Records_management#Prior_Transmittals

RDS Status Updates

DOE is working to modernize the Records Disposition Schedules.  This is a multi-year project.  Periodic updates on the project status will be published here:
