Cincinnati – Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a non-competitive financial assistance renewal Cooperative Agreement to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

Under the Cooperative Agreement DE-EM0005239, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for Activities of the Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board will provide scientific information to encourage a healthy, constructive debate on nuclear waste issues, and to promote reasoned strategies for nuclear waste handling, treatment, storage, and disposal. The total estimated value of the cooperative agreement is $5,000,000.00 for five Budget Periods and a period of performance from August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2026.
