U.S. Department of Energy Launches Energy Storage Grand Challenge
U.S. Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette announced the launch of the Energy Storage Grand Challenge, a comprehensive program to accelerate the development, commercialization, and utilization of next-generation energy storage technologies and sustain American global leadership in energy storage. The Grand Challenge builds on the $158 million Advanced Energy Storage Initiative announced in President Trump's Fiscal Year 2020 budget request. Additional information about the Grand Challenge and upcoming events can be found here.
PRIZE COMPETITION: Water Resource Recovery for Small and Medium-sized Facilities
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) announced a $1 million Water Resource Recovery Prize to accelerate the transition from conventional wastewater treatment to a model of resource recovery from municipal wastewater across the United States. Through this two-phased competition, DOE is accepting proposals for novel, systems-based solutions to stimulate resource recovery at small-to-medium-sized water resource recovery facilities. This effort can help lower the cost of wastewater treatment. View the submission instructions and participant eligibility for both phases of the competition here.
50001 Ready Navigator Tool Updated with Changes to ISO 50001 Standard
New updates have been made to the 50001 Ready program suite of resources and the 50001 Ready Navigator online tool to capture the changes introduced in ISO 50001:2018, the globally accepted energy management systems standard. The updates are designed to help organizations better tailor energy management systems to their business needs and more accurately account for their energy use, leading to deeper, sustained savings.
