DOE ordered Westinghouse Lighting Corporation to pay a $50,000 civil penalty after finding Westinghouse Lighting had failed to certify that certain models of general service fluorescent and incandescent reflector lamps comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.  DOE also found that Westinghouse Lighting had manufactured and distributed noncompliant products in commerce in the U.S.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Westinghouse Lighting.

  • In the Matter of Westinghouse Lighting Corporation (general service flourescent and incandescent reflector lamps), DOE Case Number: 2010-CE-09/1001, Adopting Order and Compromise Agreement.

After failing to submit compliance reports, and then after DOE's finding that Westinghouse was selling noncompliant products, Westinghouse certified its products and ceased sale of noncompliant products. In this agreement, Westinghouse will pay $50,000 as a civil penalty for these failures, and promises to continue certifying its products, not distributing those found to be noncompliant. DOE promises, in return, to cease enforcement actions against Westinghouse.
