With the theme of GeoEnergy is Beautiful, the Geothermal Technologies Office's (GTO) National Geothermal Student Competition in 2014 centered around public awareness. Student teams were asked to create a clear and engaging infographic that would explain geothermal energy simply to a non-technical audience.

Phil Ulibarri of Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno earned first place with his "The Footprint of a Project" design illustrating GTO's minimal land use. The second and third place winners designed infographics exploring the benefits of geothermal and the many uses of geothermal.
