David Willis, Emergency Management Program Manager, Savannah River Field Office

How long have you been with NNSA? What are your job responsibilities?

I joined NNSA in 2015.Initially I was a Security Specialist, and my current position is Emergency Management Program manager.

What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?

Leading the procurement ($770,000) of three transportation vehicles to replace the aging fleet for NNSA’s Office of Secure Transportation to transport Limited Life Components for the Department of Defense. This process was required to be conducted through the GSA and the vehicles required a specific design with essential configuration which did not exist within the GAS system. We basically had to build them from the ground up, negotiating the specific requirements that OST needed. Others had attempted to complete this procurement for several years, but my team got the procurement completed in four months with delivery of the vehicles within twelve months after the procurement was approved.

What is an accomplishment in your life in which you take great pride?

The ability to transition from the contractor side to federal status with NNSA.

What are your top three goals for your NNSA career?

Deputy AMSS for the Savannah River Field Office, outside certification in emergency management and emergency preparedness, and to oversee the Protective Force at SRS.
