Advisory Committee for Nuclear Security

The Advisory Committee for Nuclear Security (ACNS) provides independent advice and recommendations to the NNSA Administrator on the activities and operations of NNSA, including but not limited to, the stewardship and maintenance of the Nation’s nuclear deterrent; nuclear security; nonproliferation; counterterrorism; counterproliferation; and nuclear incident and accident response. The duties of the ACNS are solely advisory.

ACNS Charter

The ACNS was established consistent with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, and this Charter was filed with Congress on Jan. 8, 2025.
