November 8, 2024U.S. Forest Service, a mission area within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announces its intention to adopt multiple categorical exclusions from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Forest Service and DOE consulted on the uses for the categorical exclusions at appendix B of 10 CFR part 1021, subpart D, B4.(6), (11), (12), (13), and B5.(16) and concluded that Forest Service intended uses are consistent with the intended uses of these categories. This notice describes the categories of proposed actions for which Forest Service intends to use the DOE categorical exclusions and describes the consultation between the agencies.
