LanzaTech Freedom Pines Fuels LLC Commercial-Scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel; Treutlen County, Georgia

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBCS), and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, are issuing Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI) with respect to a request for possible financing assistance to LanzaTech Freedom Pines Fuels, LLC (LanzaTech), in Soperton, GA. LanzaTech has submitted an application to RBCS for funding of the proposal. The DOE is proposing to support a subset of the project activities through a cost-shared Cooperative Agreement with LanzaTech.

Based on the Environmental Assessment (EA) and commitments made by LanzaTech, RBCS and DOE concluded that the project would have no significant impact to water quality, wetlands, floodplains, land use, air quality, federally protected species or human health and safety. Therefore, RBCS and DOE have determined that these FONSIs fulfill their obligations under the National Environmental Policy Act, as amended (42 U.S.C. 4321 et seq.), the Council on Environmental Quality Regulations (40 CFR §§ 1500-1508), USDA Rural Development's Environmental Policies and Procedures (7 CFR Part 1970) and DOE’s NEPA Implementing Procedures (10 CFR Part 1021) for their actions related to the project. RBCS and DOE are satisfied that the environmental impacts of the proposed project have been adequately addressed. These federal actions would not result in significant impacts to the quality of the human environment, and as such an Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed project will not be prepared.
