Basin Electric Power Cooperative Culbertson Combustion Turbine Generator Project; Montana

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) issued a finding of no significant impact for a proposal to construct and operate a 50 MW, gas-fired combustion turbine, connect it to WAPA’s transmission system, and interconnect it to WAPA’s transmission system by a new substation on the existing WAPA Williston to Wolf Point 230 kV transmission line.

    Western Area Power Administration proposes to modify its transmission system to accommodate new generation resources from the peaking facility into the transmission system. Basin Electric would own and operate the peaking facility and associated features. The Department of Energy has determined that the proposed action is not a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment within the meaning of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
