The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to 1366 Technologies to utilize the Direct Wafer™ processes’ unique advantage to tailor the shape of silicon wafers for photovoltaic (PV) solar cells simultaneously, making thinner and stronger wafers that enable high-efficiency cell architectures while using less silicon.
