Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of energy storage devices to enable order-of-magnitude improvements in energy and power density compared to conventional electrostatic capacitors. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop, test, and validate prototype capacitor device to meet performance metrics, (2) apply system improvements to develop final prototype capacitor, (3) test and validate final system performance and lifespan, and (4) conduct a techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment for next phase development.
