The objective of this R and D is to evaluate and optimize the current base injection recipe used at the F-Area funnel-and-gate systems to enhance the in-situ sequestration of cationic contaminants. For the evaluation, SRNL will conduct column studies to compare and evaluate the efficacy of using domestic water base recipe vs. on-site groundwater base recipe for the sequestration of strontium (nonradioactive isotope) from aquifer sediments while mimicking natural aquifer water flow rates.
