Argonne National Laboratory wishes to use small unmanned aircraft systems for a variety of experimental and inspection applications. These will include both fixed-wing unmanned aircraft as well as multi-copter unmanned aircraft systems that are each less than or equal to 55 pounds in weight. All unmanned aircraft systems will either be commercially available equipment or constructed from commercially available light weight airframes. Unmanned aircraft systems will typically be equipped to carry sensing/data collection technologies (i.e. optical cameras, sensors, hyperspectral cameras, etc.).
