The Sustainability Performance Division (SPD) sponsors the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Sustainability Awards to recognize outstanding sustainability contributions of individuals and teams at DOE facilities across the country. The DOE Sustainability Awards celebrate excellence in energy, water, waste, fleet, sustainable acquisition, and resilience, as well as achievements in projects representing exemplary sustainability practices. Congratulations to our 2021 DOE Sustainability Award winners! The next nomination period will open in March 2022.

High Performance Sustainable Building Awards

Starting in FY 2020, SPD will present High Performance Sustainable Building awards in recognition of buildings that achieved the Guiding Principles in the previous fiscal year.

Federal Energy and Water Management Awards

The Federal Energy Management Program sponsors the Federal Energy and Water Management Awards, which honor outstanding federal agency achievements in facility energy and water efficiency, resilience, distributed energy, and fleet management.

FEMP has released the 2021 Awards Criteria and Guidelines. All DOE award nominations must be submitted through the FEMP's awards nomination portal by June 7, 2021.

FEMP FEDS Spotlight Awards

The Federal Energy Management Program invites federal agency representatives to nominate energy champions for the FEDS Spotlight award. The 2021 FEDS Spotlight recipients were announced during Energy Exchange.

Federal Green Challenge

The Federal Green Challenge, a national effort under the EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management Program, challenges EPA and other federal agencies throughout the country to lead by example in reducing the federal government's environmental impact in the areas of waste, electronics, purchasing, energy, water, and transportation.
